Brisbane’s best bars. Small IS beautiful. Junk Bar, Lady Lamington, Super Whatnot and more

The Queensland Government small bars licence changes in 2009 have encouraged a whole new generation of smaller boutique bars to open around Brisbane.

A far cry from the pub/hotel scene – these are intimate venues, where the bartenders really know their drinks and good (and audible) conversation amongst friends is the order of the day.

From the eclectic Junk Bar and leading up to the recently opened Super Whatnot Bar, the small bar scene is blossoming and it seems that almost every week there’s somewhere new to try.

We picked a handful of our favourites. Some old, some new, all worth seeking out. Cheers to that.
